CTIP Blu
Located in Mosciano Sant’Angelo (Abruzzo), CTIP Blu is a cutting-edge anaerobic digestion and biomethane production plant, majority-owned by Belenergia (51%).
CTIP Blu specializes in processing the organic fraction of municipal solid waste (OFMSW) and green waste (leaves, prunings, grass clippings). Every year, the plant treats about 48,000 tons of organic waste, converting it into biogas and biomethane.
Infrastructures and Technologies
The plant is equipped with state-of-the-art systems that ensure high environmental performance and maximum resource recovery:
- An anaerobic digester, where organic waste is broken down in the absence of oxygen to generate biogas;
- An upgrading system, which purifies raw biogas into high-quality biomethane suitable for grid injection or use as biofuel;
- A composting unit, which stabilizes the digestate and converts it into compost.
With a production capacity of 420 Sm³/h of biomethane, CTIP Blu contributes to reducing dependence on fossil fuels and achieving the country’s decarbonization goals.

Sustainability and Impact
By converting organic waste into clean energy and compost, CTIP Blu prevents the landfilling or incineration of thousands of tons of organic material. The plant reduces methane emissions, lowers the CO₂ footprint, and fosters the creation of a local circular bioeconomy.
As a public-private partnership, CTIP Blu represents a virtuous model of collaboration for the green transition, creating local jobs, supporting sustainable agriculture, and turning waste into value.
