Belenergia S.A. is building a new plant for the production of advanced biomethane with a capacity of 499 Sm3/h in the Municipality of Candela (FG). The construction site started in May 2021 and the work schedule foresees the start of operations in spring 2022.
The project initiative is owned by Bel Agri S.r.l., a 51%-owned affiliate set up through a partnership with the local SIGMA Group. Belenergia S.A. will build the plant as EPC Contractor.
The plant will be fuelled exclusively by by-products of agro-livestock origin (two-phase pomace and poultry manure) for a total annual quantity of input matrices of approximately 60,000 tons. When fully operational, the plant will produce over 4,000,000 Sm3 of biomethane from the upgrading of biogas from anaerobic fermentation of by-products. The biomethane produced will be directly injected into the SNAM distribution network through an on-site delivery point.
The plant is located on land owned by Bel Agri and will occupy a total area of approximately 4 hectares compared to the 7 hectares available in a single lot.
