Belenergia, which has long been active in Italy with various initiatives in the green energy sector, has acquired a 51% majority stake in Ctip Blu Srl, an SPV involved in the development and construction of a biomethane plant under construction in the municipality of Mosciano Sant’Angelo in the province of Teramo.
The project, already authorized by the Abruzzo Region, will produce advanced biomethane through the anaerobic digestion of the organic fraction of municipal solid waste (known as FORSU) and agro-industrial waste, with a total treatment capacity of 40. 000 tons/year with a production of about 3.3 million Sm3/year of green methane, more than 8,000 tons of trimmings and pruning from green maintenance necessary to transform the digestate into about 14,000 tons/year of quality compost for the regeneration of agricultural soils.
The plant, whose construction as EPC was entrusted to IES Biogas of Pordenone, a company of the SNAM group, is in the construction phase. It will become operational by the end of 2022, becoming the reference plant for the treatment of wet waste in the province of Teramo.
The total investment of the operation exceeds 20M€ and consolidates the presence of Belenergia Group in Italy in the field of renewable energy sources, this time with a project that has its focus in the production of biomethane for automotive and that will contribute significantly to the reduction of climate-changing impacts in an area of Central and Southern Italy where the chronic lack of advanced plants for the management of wet is a real criticality.
“It’s a useful project for the area,” says Belenergia CEO Jacques-Eduard Lévy, “and this is an important value for us because it reflects our philosophy from various points of view, first and foremost reducing climate-changing gases. Our interest in the initiative,” continues Levy, “was based on this premise, and then we appreciated that Ctip Blu was an initiative carried out with passion, tenacity and professionalism by people with an ethical business sense, and this was a decisive factor in signing an agreement that today sees us together involved in the forthcoming construction and management of the biomethane plant in the Teramo area.
Ctip Blu Srl, whose team includes figures with more than a decade of experience in the development, implementation and management of projects in renewables and biogas in particular, as well as in gas trading, completed the authorization process in 2019, arousing the interest of some of the main national players in the sector.
“The decision to enter into the agreement with Belenergia was weighted on the great expertise of the management and technical team that has already built in-house and currently manages plants such as the 13 MW Enterra biomass plant in Foggia and the Bartin distillery in Taranto, with a very efficient anaerobic digestion and water purification section.” Alberto Mansueti, founding partner and director of Ctip Blu, continues, “The development of the initiative, which has always had an industrial purpose and not just permitting, has been guided from the outset by a streamlined team capable of making important decisions quickly and with certainty, and these are clear elements of affinity with Belenergia. In fact, we have gradually come to appreciate a transparent and reliable international partner, who looks to Italy with great interest and who in just a few years has managed to implement a major expansion and consolidation strategy in our country,” continues Mansueti, “thanks to a well-developed network that we at Ctip Blu will also be able to help strengthen from now on.
